Brief activity outline / Description
Bringing a model of mobilizing civil society from the south to the heart of the empire and the process of organizing and holding a social forum is a fundamentally subversive and profoundly radical activity, but it is precisely this attempt to dismantle capitalism that makes it so hard to organize such a forum in the United States. This panel will provide an arena for discussion of how to advance the agenda of the USSF, and the U.S. Left in general
The WSF IC is upholding and promoting the construction of equality at all
levels of the WSF process. How will your activity contribute, through reflections and in practice, to making equalities a reality [gender, ethnic, class, age, cultures], as well as the respect for all diversities [including sexual diversity]?
: In order to succeed, a social forum needs to begin from its subaltern bases. The USSF recognizes this need, and this panel will embody that both in terms of
its composition and in the direction of the discussions during the panel.
Terrains : Power, Politics and Struggles for social emancipation
Transversal Themes : Diversities
Expected public : 50-100
Preferred date : 2nd day
