The Documenting of the WSF by Librarians
Mikael Böök
NIGD, the Kenya Library Association (KLA) and other partners, are starting a pilot project at the Nairobi WSF in January. Via a planning meeting in Bamako last January and a series of training workshops in Nairobi, Kampala, Daressalaam and other cities, a number of East African librarians are preparing themselves for the documenting of the WSF in libraries. The journal "Information for Social Change" is publishing a special issue on "Libraries and Information in a WSF Context" (http://www.libr.org/isc/) at the beginning of January 2007.
As a part of the WSF event in Nairobi, NIGD, the KLA, plus the Copy/South Research Group and Innovations in Civic participation have arrange a conference about library policy and intellectual property issues. The conference is called "Unlocking the Global Information Fortress".
