The NIGD Web Portal
The NIGD (Network Institute For Global Democratization) web portal was designed and built to both help communicate information about global democratization and related subjects and to serve as an area to allow others to inter-communicate with each other.
This site was built and implemented
by the NIGD web team, who are all volunteers, using Open source technology and hosted by Finland’s
(and possibly the worlds) first Cooperative social internet service provider
katto-meny "the Knot in the cable"
www.kaapeli.fi
who also utilize Open source technology.
This site was built using Plone an excellent content management
/web portal system which uses Zope, an open source application server
for building content management systems, intranets and portals as its
"backbone" and released under the GNU GPL
license.
The NIGD web team currently consists of (In alphabetical order)
Katarina Sehm Patomäki, NIGD executive secretary
Ruby van der Wekken, NIGD WSF coordinator
Mikael Böök, NIGD project supervisor
The Portal was designed as a collaborative effort and with ideas and
contributions from the NIGD membership, the NIGD web portal is an ongoing
project.
Many thanks to Plone and its founders, Alan Runyan and Alexander Limi , and for there helpful comments.
